The trends of the computer world shift intensely and software functionality and standards continue to evolve.
I believe that the potential for the re-use of the text file is of the highest order. With text files, ShiftJIS is often used with MS-DOS and JIS/EUC is often used with UNIX. However, with the necessity for the internationalization of character codes, including those from the Asia region, overseas, Unicode (UCS2) has been standardized and, in addition, with the emergence of Java, UTF8 has also become a commonly used code.
On the other hand, Microsoft Word is used these days by a large number of corporations as the standard tool. Word files are binary data and the text cannot be extracted directly. In the past, I have carried out many tests with the hope of being able to extract the text directly, but on hearing talk of the emergence of MS-OFFICE2000 this year, I began to think that the time had come to make an overall appraisal of the 95/97/98/2000 file formats. In addition, I have a fondness for UNIX. Sun Microsystems are making significant developments in the server business. Also, PC-UNIX has emerged in the form of Linux/FreeBSD. If a greater volume of software emerges, the UNIX market can be expected to become even more active.
I therefore decided to make my own company to take on 3 tasks at once: the conversion of codes such as text, the extraction of text from Word files and the creation of new PC-UNIX products.
The inaugural design behind "Dehenken" is the objective of simplifying the re-use of intellectual produce, namely documents, in a company, and the development and sales of own-brand software in order to bring about that objective.
Initially I am hoping to create software products to meet customer needs, starting with the conversion of text data and the extraction of text from MS-Office. |

6 years has passed since the incorporation of Dehenken in 1999 and we have been able to gain recognition as being a company that extracts text from document files. In addition, we have made it our duty to supply our customers with safe and high-quality software and have spared no effort in improving the quality of our products.
Over these 6 years, in order to supply safe, high-quality software, there are some things that we have repeatedly supplied our customers with. We supply our customers with software that has been checked for safety, we supply our customers with quality control information confirming the safety and we supply our supply our customers with test and inspection results verifying the high quality and high performance. Quality control is carried out in accordance with basic procedures with consideration to the reproducibility of tests, records are maintained and care taken to disclose such information. As the actual results of such measures, broken file inspection is carried out to determine Broken File Safeness to confirm the safety when extracting text from MS-OFFICE or decompressing lha/zip/tgz files. After delivery to market too, continual efforts are made to confirm quality with the aim of providing uninterrupted safety. Evaluation of speed for the purpose of checking the search speed of stored mail messages is carried out from several perspectives. We consider reports on new quality control methods and performance evaluation reports one method of quality control with the aim of confirming the quality of our software. In the future we intend to continue thorough implementation of continual basic quality control and information disclosure regarding quality and performance.
On another front, we have also developed a new line of software. The Personal Information Protection Act was fully implemented on 1st April 2005. "Dehenken Audit Library," representing an integration of the technology we have accumulated over these 6 years, is a software program that searches out personal information from a file and reports it, and represents an integration of the text extraction, mail extraction and compressed file extraction technology we have developed to this point. We hope to continue the fortification of the software we have developed and to pass it on to be of use to society.
We also to plan to place emphasis on the development of human resources. We will provide training for non-employees by accepting student interns from universities and by providing work for part-timers. We will also make efforts to develop overseas personnel by accepting overseas trainees from a university student placement program. Although we are a small company, we would like to continue these human resource development efforts as our social contribution. |
